PILATES
Pilates exercises encourage the use of the mind to control muscles, focusing attention on core postural muscles that help keep the body balanced and provide support for the spine.
The principles of Pilates are control, centering, concentration, precision, flowing movements, breathing, alignment, flexibility and lengthening … along with a little coordination and stamina! Pilates can improve physical problems such as bad posture, stiff joints and many back problems.
I qualified as a Pilates Instructor in 2004 and haven’t looked back since. As I find the connection between well being and the human body fascinating, I continue to update my body movement and anatomical well being knowledge, regularly attending workshops to ensure that my own classes remain up to date, fun, varied and safe.
Given personal abilities and requirements, we all need to work to different levels and to focus on different aspects of our bodies. This focus may be on mobility, strength, stamina, flexibility, alignment or to simply de-stress. The benefits of breath, flowing movement and well being are all incorporated into my classes.
As an alterative to traditional Pilates, why not try my Breath and Flow or Unwind classes for something different. Please do not hesitate to contact me via the contact form if you would like to discuss any specific issues or requirements. I also offer one to one sessions if you feel you would benefit from this.

“In Leah’s Pilates class she adapts each exercise to your own personal requirements. Each session is fun friendly and enjoyable, at the same time keeping to a high professional standard. Leah has changed my life, my fitness and strength… highly recommend it.”
“I initially began Pilates with Leah over 10 years ago following back surgery. She suggested a few sessions of one to one to begin with to find what worked for me and to correct posture. Since then I have regularly attended Leah’s classes not only because I enjoy them but to keep my back and core strong, flexible and healthy. Each class is different, professional and fun. Leah has a fantastic ability to keep an eye on her pupils to individually check, correct and tweak their positions, also being aware of their fitness levels or physical difficulties. Leah is a fantastic teacher, beauty therapist who I would be very happy to recommend.”
“Having been a fellow ‘classmate’ of Leah’s since 1998, it has been a pleasure to see her develop into an excellent teacher. Her classes are always well structured and gently challenging and she gives great support and encoouragement to individuals when required during each session. In my opinion she is one of the best Pilates instructors I have come across and we are very lucky to have her!”
“I started with leah 6 years ago after hip replacement and being diagnosed with osteoporosis. Her classes are amazing. She keeps a close eye on us all adjusting when necessary but pushing us at the same time. I have tried other Pilates classes and found them boring and repetitive so I was a little apprehensive but had heard her classes were fun and different and was so pleased to be able to join. I look forward to it each week which can’t be a bad thing!”
